  • What are your candles made with?
    Our candles are hand-poured in small batches and made with Coconut Soy Wax. We scent our candles with premium fragrance oils. We choose to use wood wicks because they are all natural, produce a clean burn and adds a soothing, crackling sound.
  • What are the benefits of Soy?
    Natural: Soy wax is made from soybeans. The coconut soy wax we use is grown in the USA. Cleaner Burn: Soy wax is non-toxic, unlike its petroleum-based competitor, paraffin wax. Soy wax also gives off substantially less soot (the black smokey substance that comes from burning a candle). Candle users often report of headaches while burning paraffin candles (due to the toxins within the candle). Longer Burn: Soy candles last longer than a paraffin candle of the same size. Soy wax is denser; this means it takes more heat to melt the wax, meaning that the candle takes longer to burn through. Environmentally Friendly: Soy wax is biodegradable! Better Scent: Candle scent is given off when the wax is melted. Since a soy wax candle takes longer to burn, the scent is gradually released. There is not an instant, overpowering scent. Most people prefer the gradual released scent to the instantly strong scent.
  • How do I burn candles safely?
    Great Question! 1. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Keep lit candle in sight at all times! 2. Never burn a candle on or near anything that might catch fire. Play it safe and give your candle a nice clear area to sit on. 3. Keep lit candles away from drafts--open windows, air conditioners, vents, fans, etc. 4. Keep candles out of the reach of children and pets. 5. If the flame becomes too high, TRIM your wick!
  • How do I properly care for my candle?
    THE FIRST MELT: Make sure your first light liquefies the entire top layer of wax. Otherwise, you’ll be left with a “memory ring,” which causes the wax to tunnel rather than melt evenly. SNIP THE WICK: Wicks are happiest when at a very short (⅛ inch) height. After your first burn, use a pair of nail clippers to trim the wick to the right length, ensuring a steady, ash-free flame. KNOW WHEN TO BLOW IT OUT: We recommend burning for no more than 3-4 hours at a time. And, when you get towards the end don’t burn all the way down: swap your candle for a new one when ½ inch of wax remains. DON'T TRASH YOUR TREASURES: Give your candle jar a new purpose! You’ll want to remove the remaining wax by placing the candle in your freezer for a few hours. Or better yet, send it back and receive 15% off your next candle purchase!
  • How often should I trim the wood wick?
    You should always try to trim the wick before each burn. You can even use nail clippers to do this! Trimming your wick: Trim the wick and ensure it is between 1/8 and 1/4 inch from the wax.   • When should I expect my order?
    All orders ship via UPS within the United States and take anywhere between 2-5 days. Please allow five full working days to elapse before querying your order, as small delays can happen. If there is a significant delay, it will be posted on our main page.
  • Where will my order ship from?
    All products are carefully crafted, packaged and shipped from Newport, California.
  • Do you ship internationally?
    Yes, international shipping rates are calculated at checkout by all available carriers. However, each customer is responsible for any fees, duties, or taxes that they may incur when shipping to countries outside of the US.
  • The scent I ordered wasn't what I expected!
    It happens! We make every effort to accurately describe fragrances, but scents can be subjective and we understand. If you're not in love with the scent you ordered, please ship back your unused candle and we'll send you a replacement right away.
  • Damaged Orders
    We have spent great time and energy ensuring each package holds up to rigorous shipping challenges. In the unlikely event your order is damaged, please email hello@honeyandoak.com with your order number, a quick photo of your damaged candle and a replacement will be sent out, completely free.
  • Returns & Exchanges
    As a small business, we are unable to accept returns. If you are unhappy with your candle order, we would be happy to exchange it. The candle must be unused, and not damaged. Shipping costs will need to be covered by the buyer.
